This blog is kind of boring. It's all about my weekly life. I just don't have much to talk about or any opinions I want to share.
Monday
I was down with stomach flu, which was horrible. To make a short story long, it felt horrible and I just kept vomiting and vomiting. Even when I had nothing to vomit out, my body insists on vomiting air and that felt worse than vomiting food substances. Had to get an injection, but all those happened on Sunday. What happened on Monday was simply that I did not go to school.
Tuesday
WNM (writing for new interactive media) was quite interesting. Discussed about the iPad and iPad games. As class activity, we were told to download a game and play it together. It was not a very fun game, but it was meant to familiarise us with the iPad mechanism. I've started on the assignment, and I have to say that writing for children is so troublesome. I feel like not looking down on them and assume that they will understand my story, but it just feels so forced.
Had lunch at Clementi after that before I headed home earlier than the rest.
Wednesday
DM (documentary making) was pretty fine. Did the CA1 test, which turned out quite satisfying. The video was about ladyboys in Thailand and how their talents for singing could only bring their success so far but end when they can no longer look beautiful. It was actually slightly easier to script for than my CP1 video. At least I know what's happening.
Had lunch at Plaza Sing before heading home right after that.
Thursday
CP2 (content production for documentaries) was basically time for us to work on our videos. I was pretty much done but after consultation, there was suddenly so much I needed to change. Had to redo the script, re-record the VO, rearrange the sequences, and tighten the video. I have to say, though, that Ms May Lin is a very capable lecturer. She was able to bring hope to a dark tunnel of despair, also known as my video. It ended up fine, I guess. Hopefully I'm able to do well for DM and CP2 CAs. It was quite a struggle.
Did the interview for WPD (web publishing and design). The insurance lady came to our school and we had quite a relaxing interview. For the first time, I found this interview effective. My previous interviews had been more or less assurances because I get very generic answers. I forgot her name, but she is a very pleasant lady.
Friday
SIP (Social Innovation Project) was better than last week because it was less lecture and more group work. I think my group works fine together. Quite fun too. We will be conducting our interview next week. Working on helping elderlies find comfortable sleeping positions. For the interview, we just have to spam "tell me more" :D
Went back to CASS to celebrate MJ's birthday.
Had lunch before entering our TJ (Total Journalism) class. Class was okay. More good news this week. Ms Gamar told us that DTVM is trying its best to get our batch to have an exchange programme with Melbourne University. We may get to go to Australia, and apparently this university is quite a top university. She also introduced a news writing internship to us and I took it up. During the December holidays. I'm finally working during the holidays. Speaking of which, the other time I also took up some "freelance" transcript task with MJ. All these will probably add into our portfolios. Now I'm feeling quite greedy, but I won't chew more than I can bite.
Anyway, lesson was fine. As usual, because it is journalism, I was feeling pretty down, not that there's anything wrong with journalism. It's just a natural thing. And as usual, Ms Gamar's talk about a journalist's life is persuading me to be a journalist :S Let's see how it goes. Hope there's more applications next week, because theory is clotting my brain.
Had dinner with CX in junction 8, and then had bubbletea. He got so fascinated by the incredible amount of smoke that comes out of his ice-blended drink o.o The talking included our ideal group members for FYP. I don't really have any. I realise I'm really not a group worker. My pace, anxiety level, and niche ideas just don't suit anyone. I'm a pretty
kan jiong person. I guess I should just be satisfied with whoever I get and make the best out of it.
