SAF Dragon Boat Regatta
Yesterday was a day when several divisions from SAF came together to compete in Dragon Boat and my platoon competed in it. It is somewhere in this photo. I don't have much to say about it because SAF likes to come up with these competitions and it's good and could've been fun and all, but when it is compulsory and, say, every company is forced to send a team, they just create additional stuff to do and it can get annoying. Then again, I wasn't involved so I shouldn't complain too much - something I've been getting into the habit of once again.
Other than cheering on our own company, there wasn't much to do, so a group of us spent 20 minutes walking to Kallang Wave Mall to search for breakfast. It was early in the morning so half the shops weren't open. I settled for some toast and half-boiled egg. Afterwards, I went to find Amos (from my internship), who was taking photos for Army News, and caught up a little.
Backtrack a little - recently, the company 2IC, mortar platoon commander, and specialist cadets got posted into our company. Stuff are starting to feel like they're ending because there are people preparing to take over and 3rd September is finally in sight and it feels like our NS route has went one round, with us going through BMT again, redoing all the infantry weapon systems and stuff, and going through mortar course another time, except this time as specialists guiding the new batch through.
Speaking of which, mortar course is over and I am sad because Khatib Camp is a nice camp and I miss waking up to the sunrise beaming through my window and drinking a mug of coffee as I prepare for the day. I also miss the abundance of shops outside the camp, the proximity to my home, and the lack of unnecessary procedures involving randomly stomping our feet on the ground just to report strength, although I'm no longer the one doing it back in 4SIR. Still.
A few things to list pertaining to these two months:
- I strained my leg and shoulder but finally managed to recover after more than a month.
- Despite the strain, I stupidly participated in a SAFSA track event, in which I obviously didn't do well in. As a bonus, my strain even earned a time extension for its existence.
- I went for an interesting meet-up with people I didn't know regarding a niche but let's not talk about that.
- And the usual stuffs.
That's about it for these two months.
