Today marks the start of the prelims. It was the English paper today, and i was tossing and turning on bed last night, unable to sleep. So i could not put in my all for the papers, especially paper 1. I think i'm quite confident of both papers.
For paper 1 part one, i chose the question "Regrets", and i wrote about a typical lack-of-originality story about this lady not appreciating her mother, and then in the end her mother died and she regretted it. But even though i wrote a very normal everybody-can-think-of-it story, i think i made it kind of different by adding in some details like how the lady came from a broken family, and how her mother suffered from depression and how she only saw her own pain and abhored her own mother. I purposely linked the last paragraph to the title by mentioning that the had so much she wanted to do and say to her mother after her mother died and stuff like that. Still, i seriously believe i won't be the only one writing a story like this, there'll definitely by others who wrote the same thing: Person A dislikes his mother, his mother die, and then he regrets, and stuff like that.
Paper 1 part two was better. I did this first before starting on part one. A report to the principal about carwash. And i looked into things as detailed as i could already, so i hope i'll score very well for my task fulfillment.
Paper 2 was okay. Venice again. Floods again. Tourism again. SS + geog? I think the comprehension was fine, vocab wasn't. Vocab is never okay for me. Summary was very difficult. Didn't know whether i was supposed to rearrange all the information, and then didn't know which information to pick. The passage talked about flood until half suddenly talk about tourism, and then talk about tourism until half suddenly talk about floods again. And the passage kept repeating the same things, just in different phrase. Something like "Tourism descended like (something something) in Egypt", and them "Floods of tourism" and stuff like that. And they happened to be found in two separate paragraphs like they were different information, and the thing is i don't know whether they are or not. Then the worst thing is that there were so many expressions that i could not confidently make assumptions of. Lots of metaphors, if i remember correctly, and complicated words like
exodus and stuff. But no i'm not ranting, just explaining why i found it difficult. Overall, it's quite okay.
No paper tomorrow, but SS and maths on thursday. Must study :(

Forgot to mention: I did not retake Chinese.
